Catherine & Mark * Engagement

Well, what shall I say about these two? I’m so happy about their engagement! In fact, I am probably more excited than most people are because I played the instrumental role of a matchmaker for them! haha…well sort of.

We’ve known Mark ever since he moved to San Diego. We went to the same church and soon became really good friends. One night, as we were hanging out with Mark, we started talking about our favorite topic - relationships. Mark was single back then, and I randomly brought up an idea of Mark+Catherine getting together! Daniel enthusiastically agreed with me that it’s a great idea so we started planing to introduce Mark to Catherine in the most non-threatening way possible. Our plan was to invite Catherine to Daniel’s birthday party, which Mark intended to go. That was when they first met (thanks to yours truly).

Long story short, nothing developed between Mark and Catherine until 3 months later, when Catherine invited us and Mark to watch a Standford vs. Cal basketball game at Trophy’s. It was supposedly a Standford alumni gathering type of thing. At first we told Catherine that we would go because she’s a really cool gal. But then on the game night, Daniel and I decided to stay home instead since 1. neither of us graduated from Standford nor from Cal Berkeley and 2. we don’t follow college basketball. It just seemed so irrelevant for us to be there. Mark on the other hand, graduated from Cal and has a lot of pride. This event appealed to him because it was a great opportunity for some trashing talking. So he went.

To their surprised, nobody else showed up either! Normally this would be a super awkward situation, but both of them felt surprisingly comfortable hanging out with each other. Catherine of course thought Mark was really cute. Mark on the other hand, had always has an interest in Catherine since the day I mentioned about her. And now they are engaged! Wow this is my first (and probably only) successful story of matchmaking. I’m so proud! and ooh, I got asked to be her bridesmaid too! :) Yay!

For their engagement session, we went to Mission Bay and Belmont Park area. We had a lot of fun walking around, hanging out and snapping pictures for them.
