*Out of Town*

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

We are going out of town for Thanksgiving! We are driving (yikes) up to the bay area to spend Thanksgiving with Cindy’s family.   We’ll still be checking our emails once a day though!  In the meantime, have a happy Thanksgiving!

And we’ll leave you with a picture of  our handsome boy Hops!  I’m going to miss my bunny babies while we are gone!

Hot air balloon * engagement story

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

So last Saturday, I tagged along my good friend Jon and his beautiful (and talented) girlfriend Julia on a hot air balloon ride.  Jon had planned on proposing to her on the hot air balloon and wanted me to capture the moment for them. Now you must be thinking - wouldn’t that be painstakingly obvious to Julia that Jon was up to something especially when he’s bringing a photographer with them? I think Julia was definitely suspecting that something was up.  But Jon had originally wanted both Daniel and I to go to make it a double date.  But Daniel was busy that day so only I went on the ride with them.  I have never been on a hot air balloon so needless to say, I was really excited! :)

We met up at Del Mar with the hot air balloon crew from Magical Adventures.  The hot air balloons are a lot bigger than I thought they are!! And the basket that holds the people are a lot smaller than I expected.

It was fascinating to see how they blow up the balloon…and they are HUGE.

This was our balloon - fantasia - Mickey’s favorite.

Here’s Jon and Julia in front of another more colorful balloon.

Did I mention that the basket was really small? Seriously it was so small and low that anyone can easily fall over!  After I hopped into the basket, I realized that I might actually be afraid of height.

We went pretty dang high just a few moment after we took off!!

So here’s me, your photographer, holding on for her dear life.

Here’s Jon and Julia.

Luckily after awhile, I realized that I won’t fall over as long as I don’t lean half of my body out of the basket.  I started to relax and enjoy the scenery.

San Diego is so beautiful!

Then Jon got on one knee and popped the question!

Julia’s expression was priceless!

Lucky Jon!

Everyone else was so happy for them.  They have to check out the bling of course.

After floating in the air for about 40 minutes, we landed safely somewhere in Del Mar.  We got out of the basket and helped out by holding the basket down so it won’t float away on its own.

They are so cute!

What a fun adventure.  Thank you Jon - for bringing me along! I had a fantastic time despite my fear and nervousness in the beginning of the flight.  I feel very special to be part of your engagement story!!  Hope you guys love those shots as much as I enjoyed capturing them!  Congrats to both of you! :)

woot!

With our last wedding behind us, we are done with the 2008 wedding season!  What a great year we had - thanks to all of our awesome clients!  Our first 2009 wedding will be in Febuary so we will have a couple of months off.  In the meantime, we’ll make good use of the winter months to finish designing all the albums, schedule a few engagement shoots and most importantly, we’ll have some extra time to grow and be inspired! :)  We’ll keep updating Orange Turtle blog and you can count on seeing a little more personal stuff here.

Like for example…our fish, Khalil.

Marina & Humberto * Wedding

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Marina & Humberto tied the knot last Saturday!  They had a traditional classic wedding ceremony at St. James Catholic Church at Redondo beach.  Beautiful church.

After the church ceremony, we went to UCLA for some bridal pictures! I am so glad that Marina suggested this location - it has all the elements that would make a perfect backdrop for photos. Great choice!

The first dance is always one of my favorite parts of the wedding.  I just love the way Humberto looks at Marina here!
