Easter treasure hunt shoot with PJ & June!!

It’s been a tradition that every Easter, Julie from Lot116 Photography and I would collaborate on a Easter shoot with her daughter PJ and my bunny June. This year is no exception! We came up with a treasure hunting adventure themed shoot for them – which I think it’s perfect for the spunky, curious personalities that both PJ and June have! Julie has also posted pictures on her blog so don’t forget to head over there and check out her gorgeous pictures of PJ and June!!

And they went home with all the treasures that they’ve found!

p.s. Bunnies are such amazing (and amazingly adorable) creatures! June was adopted from House Rabbit Society (HRS) and she’s one incredible bunny. She is litter trained, respond to her name, has free roam around the house and loves to snuggle with me. Bunnies are high maintenance pets that require lots of care and love, and not to mention $$ for all the vet visits (I can’t tell you how much money I’ve spent over the lifetime of my beloved Bun Buns)! They can live up to 12-13 years so it’s a decade long commitment. If you’re thinking about getting a bunny for yourself or for your kids, please please please consider adopting one from House Rabbit Society or from the shelter. So many people give up their rabbits to the shelter and so many wonderful bunnies are waiting for their forever home there. I love my June and I can’t imagine life without her!

San Diego Family Portraits :: The Faulknors

Today I want to share with you one of my favorite family sessions ever!

Let me introduce you to the lovely Faulknors!

Brett and Emily are awesome wedding photographers that we regularly hang out with! They are fun, love Jesus, stylish and are always generous in sharing their insights with us! If its wasn’t because of their encouragement, Daniel wouldn’t have quit his job and joined me at Orange Turtle Photography full time. So needless to say we were so happy to shoot some family portraits for them. They are super fabulous in front of the camera! :) We had a blast!

We took a few pictures of just Emily and Brett as well.

I absolutely love this last one. It’s as though their son, North, is saying, “what the heck are they doing?”

Bay Area lifestyle family session

One of the perks of being wedding photographers is that we get to travel quite a bit. We mostly travel to northern California for weddings but that’s totally good enough for me! When we went to the bay area for the 11.11.11 wedding, we got there a day early so we could squeeze in some family shoots in our schedule – such as this one! They are such an adorable family! And the weather totally cooperated, too. We were blessed by incredible golden but soft sunset light.

We also took some environmental/lifestyle portraits at Cara’s room. I love being able to capture this – Cara in her own room that she’ll grow up in.

A lot of people might feel like beach shots are so over done. Not us. We love shooting at the beach. Everyone ALWAYS end up having a fun relaxing time at the beach. And honestly, a portrait session is never about the location. It’s always about the people – the beautiful, amazing, fun loving human beings who love each other.

Love – is what brought them together. It was the dad’s 60th birthday and the kids flew in to have a surprise celebration with the dad. How sweet and thoughtful is that?

The Craig Fam :: San Diego Family Portrait Session

What I love about shooting a family session with a family that I have shot before is that I get to see how much the kids have grown. I took some family pictures for the Craigs last year when Ever (the little boy) was still a tiny thing! Now he’s a pro at walking and playing!

Hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend! We didn’t have any weddings this weekend which was awesome in a way that we get to relax and hang out with my friends – something that I don’t normally get to do on a weekend since we are always working. We have been shooting A LOT the past few weeks – on the weekends as well as during the week – which means that we’ll have lots of wonderful images to share with you guys!!

And today I would like to share with you some adorable images from a sisters session! :) I love that they have such close relationships with each other. It’s really inspiring!

And I took some individual shots for them as well:

The Fengs :: Seattle Family Session

When we were in Seattle, we stayed with our dear friends Yee and Carolyn Feng and their two adorable kids!!! They are such a crazy fun family! Their 2 year old son, Jediah, is incredibly smart AND funny (just like his dad)!! He is constantly cracking us up with new dance moves and funny things that he says. I really can’t believe how verbally advanced he is!

Ellie is a beauty just like her mama.

After we put the kids back in the car, we also took some pictures of Yee and Carolyn alone. :)

The kids started screaming in the car so even though the sun had just came out, we had to end our shoot right there. :) Don’t worry, no kids were hurt during the photo shoot. :) The car was right behind me and Daniel.

Back at their place, we played with Jediah a lot. He’s so fun to play with! At some point, Daniel picked up an Elmo camera and pretend taking pictures with Jediah.

Jediah is so talented, right? We are considering hiring Jediah as our assistant at our next wedding. :)
