Whenever we shoot at Rancho Penasquitos Preserve, we know that there is a horse stable nearby because we always see the evidence of horses’ visits (the smelly kind)! It turned out that the stable is located just across the busy street. I stopped by there this past week and explored the place with a Fuji Instax in my hands and a 5D Mk II around my neck (quite a photo-nerd). The place is pretty cool! Here are some shots I took with Fuji Instax. I’ll post the ones I took with 5D Mk II later.

The horse below is Ike. He’s very friendly! His owner stopped by and we chatted for a little bit.

Here’s a little girl practicing riding. Looks fun.

Now I want my own horsey!! Daniel, can I please get one?

Yes, it is possible to play in snow even when you live in Southern California! :) I often complain that there is only one season in S.Cal but it’s not true. I just need to drive 2 or 3 hours up to the mountain and I can get all the winter I want! :)

This past weekend, a group of us went up to Big Bear for a much needed retreat. We laughed and cried and had a ridiculous amount of fun together. I love my friends!

We stayed at this amazing house owned by someone we know. We are so lucky!!

We arrived late on Friday night so we couldn’t really see anything. We didn’t even think that there would still be so much snow around so imagine our excitement when we woke up the next morning! The house is also super close to the lake – we could see the Big Bear Lake from the house. Here are some shots that I took from the dock.

my dear 24mm tilt shift lens! :)

Ever since I’ve played with Bobby Earle’s tilt shift lens, I’ve been wanting to get one. Coming into year 2010, I’ve decided that I should at least get one new lens for this year. I was actually debating between getting a 50 f/1.2L and a 24mm tilt shift lens. Since we’ve already have a 24mm L, the 24mm tilt shift seems unnecessary. Getting the 50 f/1.2 is more practical. However, I just love experimenting with different composition possibilities with a tilt shift lens. I love how it produces dreamy pictures. :) Hopefully somewhere down the line I’ll have enough fund to purchase a 50 f/1.2L…then my collection will be complete. ha!

Here are some test shots that I took on this glorious morning.
