Behind the scene, sort of.

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

Some people had asked me in the past how much shooting Daniel actually does since I do most of the blogging.  Well, Daniel actually shoot quite a bit and he’s really good at it! :)  We use different lenses so when I’m shooting wide, he shoots tight.  When he’s shooting tight, I shoot wide and that’s how we capture the same moment from two unique perspectives.

Here’s a shot that I took of Daniel working hard on Elsa and Dan. :)

Here’s the shot he got from the above set up. :)

Then he asked Elsa to turn her face toward Dan and got the following shot.

at the same moment I got this:

As I set them up and took this shot,

Daniel got this.

so there you go! :) Hopefully this post gives everyone a better sense of how we work together. :)

And lastly - here’s soda #4

soda - keylime-001.jpg

Another favorite! haha.  The color of the soda is actually bright green but you can’t tell unless you pour it out! I would prefer leaving the bright green liquid inside the glass though.  The taste was great but it’s just a little weird to see myself drinking bright green liquid that looks like something from a chemistry lab.

yay! now the living room is more ‘us’ than ever haha. 16×24 is just the right size for our small and narrow living room.

Palm Springs* Trash the Dress* Ben & Marina

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Our friends Ben and Marina came all the way down to Palm Springs from San Jose to model for us. We were so glad that they came because 1. we love them. They are so fun to hang out with. 2. They are great models. 3. Marina has been wanting to take some TTD pictures since she got married! So it was a perfect opportunity for them to work with us and other photographers!

TriCoast Photography Workshop

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

I (Daniel) just got back from a 3 day photography workshop by Mike and Jordan at TriCoast Photography. It was an awesome workshop where we learned how to use fashion/editorial style lighting on the go with wireless flash. I learned so much about lighting. A lot of stuff I had read online and done a little bit in the house with, but never really had a chance to do outdoors. Our style is usually to use ambient light mostly, because wireless flash usually takes so long to set up and adjust just to take one shot. The system they taught us is so fast! Its easy to shoot on the go in a fashion/glamour sort of way. Their off camera flash system is totally different from the strobist method that I had been acquainted with. Here are some photos I took from the workshop:

Videolight is the new buzzword in wedding photography. Mike and Jordan are masters of videolight. So basically whether its pitch black outside, really bright and sunny, or during the golden hour, it doesn’t matter, you can still get great photos with

great lighting:

We also learned a lot of photoshop techniques and marketing techniques for the business. I met and made friends with Bobby Earle a wedding photographer based out of San Diego and other portrait photogs from AZ, Portland and Sac town. One last pic… this model was really good so I took a lot of photos of him:

All in all a great workshop!
