Alli * Senior Portraits

Friday, October 31st, 2008

I met up with Alli and her mom at Torrey Pines Beach yesterday for a senior portrait session.  It was so much fun!  I haven’t been to the beach for awhile especially after I moved to Mira Mesa.  It was so nice to smell the ocean again!

Shooting a high school senior is obviously different than shooting an engagement couple - but there’s one thing in common - I  always strive to capture my clients’ beautiful, authentic and comfortable selves and let their personalities shine in front of the camera!

Alli is a natural beauty!

Some of you might remember Kassi, a high school student who singlehandedly put together a fantastic fashion show to raise money for a 3 day breast cancer walk. She’s a senior this year and I had the privilege to capture of confident, beautiful self!

For some reasons I’m really drawn to the following image.

And this is probably my favorite of the session.

Andrea

When I was a kid, I’ve always thought that cello is the coolest string instrument. When I got into 7th grade, our school required every student to learn at least one instrument. Even though I already play the piano, I really wanted to pick up another instrument so I could try out for the school’s orchestra later on. I was seriously considering picking cello. When I told my parents about my choice, they atomically rejected it - it’s too big and it’s not at all practical (they think that piano is the most practical instrument).

Andrea - though she’s years than me, I think my 12 year old self would have seriously admired her so much. I admire her talent now even as an adult! Not only is she a talented cellist…and she’s just so cute! It was so wonderful to spend an afternoon with her at Old Poway Park.

My favorite image of the day:

I couldn’t resist from taking a couple of detail shots of her cello. :) It is such a beautiful instrument!

I like this one too.

She was really playing as I took this shot…which attracted two young men to come by, sit down and listen to her. haha

Andrea, I can’t wait to attend one of your performances! Have a great year at school! :)

I’ve known this girl since she was in middle school! We went to the same church together and I was her youth advisor for a few years. It’s really neat to seen her grown throughout the years to be who she is today - tall, beautiful, assertive and confident. She is going to be a senior in 2 weeks so I took her out for a senior portraits session. :) She came by after her SAT prep class (poor soul, I remember those classes. I took one too one summer) so it was pretty late after we made it out to the beach…but that’s how we got the moon in the following shot!

I love this. There’s a magical quality to it.

Isn’t she beautiful! :) I wish there was more day light to capture her beauty.

During the session, I dropped my cell phone somewhere on the beach. I had no idea that I lost it until after we were done. By then it was already completely dark. We looked and looked but of course it was crazy hard because there was no light! I decided that I just have to come back the next morning to look for it. And if I can’t find it, it’ll be a good occasion to upgrade to an iphone. muhahaha.

I got home, and there was no signs of Daniel. I figured he was probably hanging out with his c0-worker or something. But then he came back a few minutes later. As he opened the front door, he called out, “Cindy, guess what I have!” He got my cell phone! Apparently, a bunch of kids found my cell phone and called my mom. My mom then called Daniel and Daniel called my phone to arrange for pick up. Gosh I was so lucky! In the end, there’s no new iphone for me but I’m totally OK with not spending extra $$$/month for service fee. :)
