Welcome to the blog of Orange Turtle Photography!

I am Cindy and I am the main photographer behind Orange Turtle Photography. I travel throughout California for weddings and portrait sessions.

A turtle is just a turtle until you give it color.  Once you give it color, all of a sudden the turtle has personality, emotion and life.  The turtle is now sun loving, ocean swimming, happy fun and chill.  Color helps you feel. So we have a choice to leave the turtle just a turtle... or to give the turtle color.  If you want to get in contact with me, email me at Thank you for stopping by!

Newborn family session

A few weeks ago I shot this adorable family session with a 2 week old newborn baby girl. I had such a lovely time with this family! I love this session because I feel like this is the type of newborn session I love to photograph – it’s a lifestyle oriented session shot in the comfort of their own home.  I also love that I get to photograph not just the newborn but big sister in her own elements as well! I love documenting all the normal but precious moments – from the dad swaddling the baby to the big sister checking out her baby sis. I love this session and I’m excited to share with you some of my favorite images.

Sisters!! So adorable!

Tickle tickle!

And she smiled!

I love these silly, playful moments!

I really wanted to take a picture of the big sister kissing the baby sis. But of course it’s hard to ask a toddler to do exactly what you want her to do! So we (her parents and I) decided to coax her with yogurt drops, her favorite snack!

We then moved her on to the couch.

And finally she kissed her baby sis!! Luckily I was fast enough to capture this moment!

Toward the end of the session, the baby woke up and I was able to get a few shots of her with her eyes opened. She got gorgeous eyes!

And that’s a wrap!! :)

Julie Leite These are wonderful photos of this awesome family!!! Thank you for sharing since they’re far from us now, and we don’t get to see them. You captured their spirit and tender moments so lovingly. Well done!!!

Pauline & Eddie * Carmel Mission Ranch Hotel

Pauline and Eddie are both the most kind loving people you will ever meet.  They exude joy and a positive energy that is absolutely contagious.  I’m so so happy that they found each other because they are seriously a perfect match!  They got married at the most picturesque venue ever (Mission Ranch Hotel at Carmel) with the cutest wooly creatures in the background (which I was totally obsessed with).  The day started off with a little bit of rain but as the ceremony starts, the clouds parted and sun broke out!  It was truly an amazing day.

It was such an amazing day! Congrats again to Pauline and Eddie!

Relocation annoucement

Hi everyone! As you know, I’ve been on maternity leave and adjusting to being a mom of 2 little ones. Things have been crazy and chaotic for us and now I can finally make this announcement – Team Orange Turtle have officially relocated to Northern California (SF/bay area)! Although I really miss San Diego, I am excited for the new journey ahead.

And because a blog post is better with a picture, here’s a photo of my girl from a couple a months ago! Happy Spring, everyone!

Grace I love your work… they are really beautiful. A friend of mine worked with you on her maternity shoot and baby girl’s 1st birthday photoshoot and I fell in love 😍 And I always thought of asking you to do a photo shoot after we had a baby 😝I’m sad you had to relocate so far from SD but I’m pretty sure it was for the best for your family 😁 Best of luck to you and your family 😊
